Roger Eaton was originally sworn in as Charlotte County Clerk of Court & County Comptroller on January 3, 2017, and was re-elected for a second term in 2020. Prior to his first election, Roger worked in the Charlotte County Clerk of Court’s office for 18 years, with his last position being that of Chief Deputy for Court Operation.
Roger holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, both from Eastern Michigan University. He serves on the Board for the Charlotte County Community Foundation, and previously served on the Boards of the Charlotte County United Way, Port Charlotte Bandits Football & Cheer and the Twentieth Circuit Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee. He is also an alumnus of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Charlotte program.
Roger is active in the community, and has spearheaded several successful fundraising campaigns over the last several years for the Center for Abuse and Rape Emergencies (CARE), Virginia B. Andes and the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County.
At the beginning of his tenure as Charlotte County Clerk of Court & County Comptroller, Roger’s main goal was to effectively use innovative technology to make the office as efficient and user-friendly as possible. He has succeeded by introducing several new programs for the citizens of Charlotte County such as:

- MyJuryServices Kiosk & App
- PayNearMe Cash Payment Program
- MarriageServices Program & App
- E Certify
- Online Free Self Help Center
Roger has completed the 240 hour professional development certification program for Court Clerks, which was developed by the Florida Supreme Court in conjunction with the Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers. Every year, Roger completes at least 36 hours of Clerk of Court training courses along with an additional 8 hours of investment training.
Roger chaired the Legislative Proposal Workgroup in 2018 and 2021 and currently serves on the Strategic Technology Committee, Nominating Committee, Bylaws Committee, Communications Committee and the Legislative Committee.
Roger is happily married to his wife Angie for the past 24 years and has a daughter, Lila, and a son, Bryce.
