Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center

The Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center, Inc. (CHEC) would appreciate funding to support environmental education field trips and other programs for school age children so they can spend time outside learning about the vital role we each play in preserving and protecting the dynamic balance of our Florida environment.

Explore the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center (CHEC), a distinguished non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation shaping the environmental landscape of the greater Charlotte Harbor area since 1987. Founded by Charles E. Caniff in 1983, CHEC has blossomed into a hub for environmental education, recreation, research, and conservation.

Supported by Mr. Caniff’s vision, the Alligator Creek and Cedar Point Centers offer over 20 diverse educational programs, manage 8 environmentally sensitive lands, and boast more than 8 miles of hiking trails. Our dedicated team collaborates with Charlotte County School teachers and principals, developing tailored programs for new schools.

Join us in the mission as CHEC annually educates over four thousand students and engages the community through approximately 300 programs. Despite our relatively small staff, we strive for excellence with the support of numerous volunteers. Discover how you can contribute to our cause and be part of a collective effort to foster environmental awareness and conservation in our community.
