Giving back to the community through grant making is one way how we fulfill our mission of “Connecting People Who Care with Causes that Matter”. Through the generosity of our donors, The Charlotte Community Foundation can award grant-making dollars each year to organizations serving the needs of communities in and around Charlotte County, Florida.
Charlotte Community Foundation Grant Application Information
What you need to know before starting your application.
Our primary “due diligence” review process is to ensure that grants are made for purposes that are consistent with IRS regulations (i.e., charitable purposes). Secondly, the organization receiving the grant is both legitimate and capable of carrying out the purpose for which the grant is intended. Lastly, the Charlotte Community Foundation will evaluate each organization requesting a grant to determine eligibility. Applicants will be required to provide evidence of the following which will be validated by Foundation staff:
- A current 501(c)(3) status OR Governmental Organization as described in 501(c)(1) and 509(a)(1) of the IRC.
- Location in and/or primary service to residents in Charlotte County.
- Metrics and outcomes demonstratively measuring Charlotte County will primarily benefit from these grant funds.
- Demonstrated fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
- Submission of all information requested on the grant application.
- Willingness to provide additional information as deemed necessary for grant decision.
Applicant Requirements:
Applicant must provide proof of commitment to Nonprofit Best Practices by submitting:
- Copy of current 501(c)(3) status Determination Letter and Articles of Incorporation OR proof of Governmental Agency as described in sections 501(c)(1) and 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- 501(c)(3) active and current for the last two consecutive or more years.
- Detailed program/service budget for requested funding.
Recipient Requirements:
- Accept and sign the Grant Recipient Agreement.
- Provide an Interim Report, due at 6 months, summarizing the grant’s progress to date, and a Final Report, due within 3 months of the completion of the grant project which would include the measurable outcomes, final expenses, and proof of website, social/news media recognition announcements.
- Return unused funds to the Charlotte Community Foundation.
CCF Grants WILL support: Program/Service Delivery and Equipment
Program/service delivery and equipment expenses could include but are not limited to:
- Program supplies that are fundamental to the delivery of the program/service directly impact a community’s needs.
- Part-Time, periodic wages that are fundamental to the delivery of a specific short-term program or service.
- Equipment is required in order to provide a program/service that directly addresses a community need.
CCF Grants WILL NOT support:
- Annual Campaigns
- Fraternal organizations, societies or orders
- Grants to Individuals
- Advancement of a particular religion or faith
- Lobbying or similar activities
- Political organizations or campaigns
- Scholarly Research
- Event Sponsorships
Timeline for Grant Applications

The grant application portal will open on the first Monday of each new grant period and close on the last Friday of that month.
Review
The Charlotte Community Foundation grants committee will review each request, at this time you may be contacted for additional information.
Organizations will be notified within 90 days of submission if your request has been funded and/or next steps.

Grants Available through the Charlotte Community Foundation
Education Fund
Organizations or collaborations that are assisting school-age children (VPK-12) in Charlotte County with additional education opportunities and workforce development with the intent of enriching the community and lives of those residing in Charlotte County.
Examples include but not limited to:
- Afterschool programs
- Career Development
- Reading programs
- Feeding Programs
Senior/Elder Support Fund
Organizations or collaborations that are supporting and enhancing the quality of life for our aging population as well as their caregivers within Charlotte County.
Examples include but not limited to:
- Housing/Rental Assistance
- Transportation
- Feeding Programs
- Healthcare/Medication Assistance
Veteran Fund
Organizations or collaborations that are supporting and enhancing the quality of life for our veteran population in Charlotte County, including but not limited to assisting with the transition from military to civilian life, assisting with job training and job placement, providing temporary assistance with food, shelter, clothing, and other personal need expenses or supplies.
Examples include but not limited to:
- Health and Wellness
- Housing/Rental Assistance
- Transportation Assistance
- Professional Development Assistance
Water Quality/Environment Fund
Organizations or collaborations that are helping our community by investing in programs that will support a healthy environment and water quality initiatives within Charlotte County.
Examples include but not limited to:
- Clean Water Programs
- Community Education
- Research & Development Programs
Youth Fund
Organizations or collaborations that are supporting and enhancing the quality of life for our children of low-income families by providing adequate food and enabling them to participate in educational opportunities and other after-school enrichment programs that their families may otherwise be unable to afford.
Examples include but not limited to:
- Afterschool Programs
- Career Development
- Feeding Programs
- Fitness Programs
- Health and Wellness
- Reading Programs
- Summer Programs
Grants Available Annually through the Charlotte Community Foundation
Leadership Charlotte Grant for Youth
You may apply for this grant beginning July 1, 2023 and it will remain open until August 1, 2023
- Organizations or collaborations must be a member of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce
- Must provide funding for charitable purposes to organizations assisting Children & Youth.
Examples include but not limited to:
- Afterschool programs
- Reading Programs
- Fitness Programs
- Career Development
- Feeding Programs
